Upholstery Class Day Eight
During day eight of upholstery class, the inside arms received their treatment, which included a layer of 1 inch foam along with a full layer of Triple A cotton. On top of that came the pieces of fabric which were draped on top of the cotton like the seat. For the first arm, I draped the fabric center line to center line of the arm. This proved to be an issue because I did not have enough fabric at the front of the arm to wrap it around easily. Over the course of stretching and working the fabric forward, I was able to get enough in the front to secure with a tack.
The second arm benefited from the mistakes I made on the first arm because I was able to position the fabric further to the front. Once positioned, I pin tacked across the top arm frame, one pin tack at the bottom, made the cuts to wrap at the corners and call it a day.
Next time, I will complete the second arm that I started. I also have the outside arms, inside and outside back to complete along with the skirt of the chair. The next class will be the first of the second session.
