Upholstery Class Day Five

Upholstery class was packed full of lessons.  Tacking down rubberized horse hair was the most challenging for me.  That is the blue stuff you see on the chair seat above.  The stuff is so durable and unyielding when compressing to tack.  The so soft cotton layered on top of the rubberized horse hair reminded me of the cotton I would see along side the roads in Texas, including seeds.  I began to daydream in upholstery class.  (With tack hammer down of course.)  I kept a piece of that Texas cotton in a zip lock for many years.  A few years after completing my service to our country, I let go of that cotton.  What remains is the fond memory of the beautiful landscape covered in wildflowers that filled my rear view mirror as I drove home that final day.  Stay tuned for day six…  By the way, Happy St. Patrick’s Day…. wish I had a Guinness right now.
